While the shop and workroom have been a little quieter the last few weeks with fewer fittings and alterations, we have been having fun creating a collection of wedding dress accessories.
Bare arms are going to be a thing of the past. We have come up with some beautiful adornments that brides will not be able to resist! Starting with a blast from the past the Leg ‘o’ mutton sleeve. Once resigned to history and now enjoying a revival, it consists of a puff sleeve to just above the elbow with a long fitted part below reaching down to the wrist. Made it in soft tulle with lace applique, this is very much a statement look and a wonderful addition to any shape of gown.
We also have a sheer tulle Bishop sleeve with a fitted satin cuff with satin covered buttons at the wrist. This has more of a boho vibe reminiscent of shapes from the 1970’s but like many retro styles super fashionable now. Our next work in progress is a new shape sleeve which will incorporate a fingerless glove with appliqued lace at the hand, wrist and top of the arm. All of these sleeves are detachable and can be put with any strapless dress or off shoulder style. We can make bespoke dresses incorporating these sleeves if desired.
In addition to the sleeves we have designed some detachable trains and overskirts. If your dress has a simple slim shaped skirt you can add more impact when you walk down the aisle with one of these dramatic pieces. These wedding dress accessories can be made in satin, organza, tulle or have lace embellishment to match your dress.
Every bride wants to achieve their own unique look for their special day and these exciting new accessories will do just that, making your special dress extra special!
