Trends of the wedding season 2021/22 season and our picks (part 1)

This season may not have been as wedding centric as we would have liked – we can blame covid-19 for that – but that didn’t stop the trends from emerging. Wedding fashion is ever changing, and this season we’ve seen both the rise of the bride’s personal style but also the resurgence of classic looks. With lockdown restrictions lifting, were hoping summer 2021 will be packed with weddings.

Bridal wear and the fashion scene run side by side, and many of the trends take direct inspiration from what top designers and fashion houses put on the catwalk each season. We like to keep up with the latest, both taking influence from the fashion industry and endeavouring to produce our own, original designs.

Here at June Peony Bridal, we have all the new – and vintage – trends and styles to ensure you find your perfect fit. The team have outlined some of our very best gowns and accessories that are all the rage this season. I also discuss the cultural influences and historical roots of each style.

1. The Gatsby Era

A cultural phenomenon when it was published, it remains as so today. Its influence in fashion is undeniable and it has come back around, after all it is once again the roaring twenties. The 1920’s symbolised a new chapter in fashion, with women choosing more glamorous, freeing silhouettes. Gatsby only furthered this by depicting women in expensive, accentuating attire. With a modern twist, gowns this season have taken from the distinctive styles narrated in the book and depicted in the film. At June Peony Bridal, we have a range of dresses to make you fit for a twenties wedding, in the 21st century. A classic, vintage look, it is an eclectic choice for the fashion forwards bride.

Dripping in beads, Lucy is the perfect option to make you look like you’ve just walked into a Gatsby party. The glitter and shimmer give the wow factor and the A-line cut keeps the dress tasteful and flattering.

Tiffany is a glamorous, diamante gown with lace on the skirt. The flare fit gives a gorgeous vintage feel. The sheer back is tempting and sexy luxury lace, Elaine (left) is an eye-catching mermaid style dress. the lace sleeves give a chic and unique look.

Vanessa is a stunning lace, high neckline piece influenced by twenties gowns. The sequined, lace skirt makes this dress glamourous and perfect for the Gatsby look.

2. Big volume

Making an impact is in this season. Big volume, big shapes, all eyes on you. We have the gowns to suit, too. After all, your big day should be all about you and what better way than to have the perfect dress. With origins on the runway with brands with the likes of Celine, Vetements and more recently Chanel, big volume in garments have been seen to denote women’s power and assertiveness through ‘taking up space’. But also for the reason of modesty, there has been a recent boom is less revealing fashion, with a rise in popularity of ‘over-sized’ wear coming from streetwear fashion in the east. Whether you want to feel powerful walking down the aisle, or volume is your personal style, you’ll be on trend. These are our selections from our range of gowns to fit your preference.
